May 12, 1946 – March 11, 2024
Charles “Chuck” Harshman, Jr., of Altoona, KS, passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, at his home with his family by his side. Chuck was born May 12, 1946, to Charles Newton Harshman, Sr., and Betty Schoonover.
Chuck married Joyce Harrison Fiene Harshman Nov. 23, 1982. He worked as a machinist at Chanute Manufacturing for more than 30 years. He enjoyed creating things in his shop from metal and wood and was very talented at both. Many of his grandchildren have rocking horses, baby cradles, tables, chairs and other things he made that they will cherish forever.
Chuck was known around town for having the best kept yard. He took great pride in the things he did, whether it was the things he made with his hands, his yard or anything else.
He was a wonderful role model for his family. He was a patriotic man with a
strong love for God and country. He also loved to fish, but above all he loved
spending time with his family, especially when they were all together for family
gatherings.
Chuck is survived by his wife Joyce; children Randall Harshman (Rhonda), Eric Harshman, Christina Slaughter, Connie Goodwin, Becky Fox (Greg), and Charla Walker (John); sisters Linda Fuller (Glenn) and Stacy Raymond; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
