Elaine (Pierce) Covey

Sept. 24, 1946 – Oct. 21, 2025

Marie Elaine Pierce Covey, 79, of Miami, Okla., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, in Bartlesville, Okla.

Born Sept. 24, 1946, Elaine was the daughter of Phyllis Marie Johnson. She attended high school in Neodesha and worked as a substitute teacher for the handicapped in Independence, Kan., before retiring from Cessna Aircraft Co.

On Dec. 8, 1993, she married Ronald Lee Covey. They enjoyed many years of camping, fishing, and quality time with family.

Marie’s greatest passion was her family. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially at Christmas, and left them a legacy of love, laughter, and faith in Christ. She was famous for teaching them how to play SCAT, never letting them win unless they truly earned it! Her deep faith in Jesus was a comfort throughout her life, and she inspired all who knew her to worship in the storms of life.

Elaine was preceded in death by her mother and her son Joseph Darrin Gonzales.  She is survived by her husband; her brother, Roger Pierce; her children: Ronald Covey Jr., Robb Covey (Emily), Kandace Rather, and Jamie Covey. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Nov. 8, 2025, at the Journey Home Chapel in Bartlesville.
